“We’re beyond excited about this first collaboration of API and LLL of Kentucky/Tennessee,” said Janet Jendron, API Board President. “Twenty-five years ago, API was conceived when Lysa Parker and Barbara Nicholson attended a local LLL meeting. They contacted me about support from key LLL Leaders and networks. I was also honored to work with Dr. Bill and Martha Sears, instrumental in describing the attachment parenting philosophy when they were influenced by early involvement in LLL. Since then, the mutual connection and support between LLL and API have been beautiful, inspiring, and amazing! The icing on the cake is that we’ll all be together to celebrate our collective impact with Marian Tompson, co-Founder of LLL. This event will be an extraordinary gathering of people who have impacted families in profound ways.”
Recognizing a mutual passion for the well being of infants and parents in Nashville and beyond, the two nonprofit organizations have collaborated to “Rock the World” with some of the best minds and best parenting support available.
“Parents, professionals, and children too, are in for an incredible day of learning, and connection” said Anna Childress, La Leche League Leader and conference chair, “It’s a day that will be remembered for coming together, and the shared passion to “rock the world” with care and compassion.”

La Leche League of Kentucky-Tennessee’s mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.
Attachment Parenting International’s mission is to educate and support all parents in raising secure, joyful and empathic children in order to strengthen families and create a more compassionate world. Attachment Parenting is based in the practice of nurturing parenting methods that create strong emotional bonds, also known as secure attachment, between children and their parent(s). This style of parenting encourages responsiveness to children’s emotional needs, enabling children to develop trust that their needs will be met. As a result, this strong attachment helps children develop the capacity for secure, empathic, peaceful, and enduring relationships that follow them into adulthood.
